Congregation Beth Yam Youth Group (BYYG) is comprised of energetic and committed young people who realize the difference they can make in the life of our temple and in our entire community. While most of the BYYG members are enrolled in religious school classes, after-school activities, jobs and more, this group still sees the importance of helping those less fortunate among us.
The tenets of this group are below:
- We make an impact on the lives of all people in our community
- We support our community with actions and deeds
- We participate in local, regional and national programs through URJ

As a social action program, our teens have read to children in day care programs, painted walls to brighten the rooms in a children’s center, collected food for the hungry, raised funds for Hurricane Sandy, helped at Fusion Shabbat dinners, planned and executed Purim carnivals, participated in a Havdalah service, attended regional URJ teen conferences and so much more. Sometimes, the group will go to the movies or go bowling, or meet for coffee. All of the times they spend together creating life-long friendships affect how they will reflect on their “good old days.”
