Lishma (meaning “for the love of learning”) – Post Bnai Mitzvah-Grade 12

Confirmation 2012It is the hope of our congregation that all students will continue their Judaic studies beyond Bar/Bat Mitzvah year, but especially into High School. Our Lishmah Students meet on a weekday evening, once or twice a month with the Rabbi, other teachers, and guest speakers to explore, discuss, and develop deeper awareness of what it means to be a modern Jew.  Class sessions operate in a more relaxed atmosphere as the students delve into such topics as:

  • Reform Jewish Philosophy
  • Theology
  • Ancient and Modern History
  • Antisemitism and Global Politics
  • Bio-ethics
  • Current Events
  • Rights and Responsibilities as future Jewish leaders
