The CBY Care Committee, working with the Rabbi, responds to members of our congregation who are ill and/or in need of support. It is also dedicated to providing Jewish programming and activities for isolated Jewish seniors in the Hilton Head and Bluffton areas.
Care Committee volunteers visit Jewish patients, both CBY members and non-members, in the Hilton Head Regional Hospital and also congregants recovering in rehabilitation facilities locally. The committee provides notes and phone calls to those who may be suffering from an illness, as well as books of caring and comfort.
During the past two years, thanks to grants from the BJH Foundation for Senior Services, the Care Committee has extended the temple walls by inviting isolated Jewish seniors from local residential communities to attend programs with Jewish content at the Temple. These quarterly programs for seniors include mini worship services, holiday and musical celebrations, Jewish history, and of course Jewish food, as well as camaraderie with family and other CBY members; all with the goal of enhancing Jewish experiences.
